Thoughts on ISIS and the future

Today we read headlines about Islamic State of Iran and Syria (ISIS) militants massacring Iraqi soldiers. One may stop and ponder, “How does one stop this?” Secular relativism has no answer to radical Islam and may very well be be overrun by it.

Already we see secular relativism suppressing the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church in the West. In time it will be successful and many of us will face white or red martyrdom. We will be branded enemies of humanity, disturbers of the peace, sowers of hate, intolerant, you name it. The Georgian Prophesy may come true. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s idea of a “smaller and purer” Church may come to fruition.

As secular relativism declares victory over “historical oppressors,” its insolence and defiance of God’s laws will become manifest. On the other side, the Infidels especially those Al Qaeda-inspired groups like ISIS will become incensed by the West’s embrace of “sexual freedoms” and the idolatry of money, fame, and power.

But we know those falsehoods can only satiate the soul temporarily. After the high wears off, millions will be left wanting more. Unable or unwilling to guide their restless hearts back to the Creator, they will turn to false prophets which do offer certainty, simplicity, and comfort. More Western youth will convert to Mohammedanism and become radicalized for jihad against the very rotten civilization that bore them and aborted or contracepted their brothers and sisters.

The West will suddenly face a violent homegrown threat. Its own youth will commit suicide in the name of a false god. As ISIS and other groups solidify their gains in the Middle East and elsewhere, at some point they’ll acquire weapons of mass destruction. The weapon may be a nuclear suitcase bomb, or a dirty bomb, or perhaps biological or chemical weapons. It’s been almost 15 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001 and we’ve forgotten the fear and warnings of those days and months after the attacks. The evildoers only have to be right once. Our anti-terrorism experts have to be right every time.

And so full-fledged war may break out, an actual war of civilizations.

Secular relativism will fall. The West will fall. It will be overrun. Eventually the dissolution of its basic building block, the family, will cause the whole edifice to cave in, and its remaining members will settle for anything stable, even if it (falsely) claims to be truth. Radical Islam will appear triumphant. Emboldended, it will believe its goal of a global caliphate closer than ever.

Except that mustard seed, nourished by the blood of Christian martrys, will start to grow. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a known entity to the Mohammedan, millions convert. Through the intercession of countless saints, His Sacred Heart will prevail. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Or not. This is all just wild conjecture. Who knows how it will play out, but it will play out somehow. Secular relativism can’t defeat that which it does not understand, that which is motivated by the great deceptor. The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, the bride of Christ, can.
